Dougals’ Clinical Approach

His main interests are in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and sports rehabilitation, with particular interests in rugby, running and football injuries. He also has a strong interest in strength and conditioning and athletic performance.

Dougal’s approach to physiotherapy focuses on understanding the factors contributing to a patient’s problem rather than simply treating their symptoms. He considers factors such as strength, mobility, movement, training load, lifestyle and previous injuries when assessing what may be contributing to a patient’s condition.

He uses a combination of education, exercise rehabilitation and hands-on treatment where appropriate, helping patients understand their injury, build confidence and work towards returning to the activities they enjoy.

Dougal particularly enjoys working with a wide range of patients and helping them achieve goals that are specific and important to them. He also values the supportive environment at ProSport, where he can work alongside experienced clinicians and continue developing through mentorship, learning and professional development.

Outside of physiotherapy, Dougal enjoys running with Salford Metropolitan Athletics Club and going to the gym. He follows football, rugby union and rugby league, as well as athletics and tennis. He also enjoys hiking, camping, travelling and walking his dog.
